Course Description:
The Community Paramedicine course is a community-based, collaborative model of care that leverages the skills of paramedics and EMS systems to address care gaps identified through a community-specific healthcare needs assessment. This course prepares the seasoned, licensed paramedic to function outside their customary emergency response and transport roles. A Community Paramedic is a Paramedic with additional training who works under the control of local medical care as part of a community-based team of health and social service providers.
The Community paramedicine course can be completed in as little as eight months and is offered 100% online. Upon successful completion of the course and the International Board of Specialty Certificate (IBSC) Community Paramedic Certification exam, participants can earn up to 12 credit hours toward Seminole State’s Bachelor of Science degrees in Health Sciences or Public Safety Administration.
